Joint Bride & Groom Shower

I was really excited to do these cakes...and very relieved when the customer came to pick them up!! At first when I was asked to do these cakes, I was a little intimidated because they were to be done at the same time and that was the first time that I had to do (2) cakes in one order! So, HUGE thanks to my wonderful hubby that helped me out TREMENDOUSLY by listening to every idea that I came up with, going shopping with me for ribbon (that was a little stressful! but that's a whole 'nother story!! LOL) and most of all, helping me to assemble and deliver these cakes!! What would I do without him?...as Forest Gump says: "We're like peas and carrots..."

Hummingbird frozen butter cream transfer

Sorry for the picture quality! I gotta get a better camera!! This cake was pretty easy to do, despite having to do that blasted frozen buttercream transfer THREE times before it FINALLY worked!! It was my first time trying this technique out, so I think I did a pretty decent job considering! As for the rest of the cake, very easy and simple to do...I hope the bday girl likes it!!

Swamp Gator

This was my first attempt at carving a 3-D cake...and can I tell you how FUN it was?! I had the privilege of taking a class with Sharon Zambito and Dena Bryngelson; they are FANTASTIC teachers and a HOOT to be around!! This was my completed swamp scene - my favorite part was the tree stump!! All edible, except for the sticks in the cattails and the gator's mouth was cardboard....

This was part of the process of carving and assembling the gator and the rest of the scene:

Stars and Sprinkles

I just LOVE airbrushing!! This cake was so EASY to do - for a 5 year old who loves anything to do with outerspace, so his mom requested stars....

My First Purse Cake

My first Purse Cake!! And my second attempt at airbrushing! I was really satisfied with the outcome...the purse is covered with fondant and I placed fondant strips on the sides of the cake...the roses are fondant (my first time at that too!!) :o) I baked a WASC for the sheet cake and I baked a version of pound cake for the purse....

Happy Birthday ME

Yep! That's right - I had to make my OWN bday cake!! And BOY was it YUMMY!! Dark Chocolate with Red Raspberry filling...YAY!! The musical notes were made from a stencil.

Happy Birthday Myla

All buttercream with buttercream flower stencils. This was for my best friend from high school; we just recently reconnected on Facebook - all these years apart and we didn't even know that we both still lived in our hometown...go figure!

Graduation 2009

This cake was all buttercream with fondant accents.

Pastors' 20 years in ministry

This was my first time doing more than two tiers...came out pretty decent; even though this cake was BEFORE I changed my shortening from Crisco to Sweetex ( I LOVE that stuff!!) ;~). The cake flavors were AWESOME - Red Velvet with Chocolate Ganache, White with Red Raspberry, and Half Vanilla, Half Chocolate with Bavarian cream...YUMM!!

Polka Dots for Felicia

This cake was fairly easy to make! So cute and I have to say that I love the handwriting on this one...I wish that they ALL came out that way!! LOL... Thanks to Cakery, my CC friend!!

Allen's birthday

This is one of my favorite cakes that I've done so far!! It was for my nephew Allen. The puppy was traced onto the cake and then I piped in the icing! So, so fun!!

Here's another picture of Allen's cake with his very own smash cake!

My Granny's bday cake!

This cake was such a refreshing way to get back into caking! I had almost but given up prior to making this cake, but when it's in your blood, it's hard to NOT do it!! I think I really surprised myself and fell in love with making cakes all over again! Thanks to one of my MANY cake mentors - Cakery (that's her screen name on Cake Central).

More to come!!
